Qualified Foreign Investors – Recently, the government has introduced a new variety of foreign institutional group categorised as Qualified Foreign Investors to promote foreign investment in the critical sector of infrastructure. The setting up of QFIs is a follow up of the budget 2011-12. The QFIs can invest upto US $13 billion in equity and debt funds of infrastructure Mutual Funds. QFI is an individual, group or association resident in a foreign country and is compliant with the Financial Action Task Force standard and is a signatory to the International Organisation of Securities Commission.
