National Food for Work Programme. -This is a wage employment programme aimed to eradicate rural poverty. The programme is implemented in 150 most backward districts of the country with the objective to intensify the generation of supplementary wage employment. The programme is open to all rural poor who are in need of wage employment and desire to do manual unskilled work. Food is provided free of cost to the states.
