Government to launch ‘One India’ to facilitate ease of doing business

The center has announced yet another initiative to improve ease of doing business in the country. A scheme named ‘One India’ will be launched in cooperation with state governments.

The One India initiative is designed as a portal based platform where applicants should file a single e -form for business purposes. Investors now need not fill multiple forms rather they should fill only a single e-from integrated with One India portal.

“We are working on what could be the world’s best single window clearance mechanism with an in-built information wizard that will help investors with the application processes,” commented a senior official with the new initiative.

Talks with states are going on to migrate to the new facilitating venture.

As a beginning, a ‘Common Application Form’ in draft were provided to states. They should intimate their feedback, in the coming months.

Several online filing procedures were launched by different ministries. Bu the states are so far not joined these ventures. Altogether, lack of participation of states have constrained the Centre’s efforts.

India is now having one of the most difficult business environment in the world according to the World Bank. The country’s rank in the Ease of Doing Business Index is 130 out of 189 countries. over the last two years, government has started several initiatives to make business procedures simple.

The new Ease of Doing Business Index is expected to be published by the World Bank this month and India may record big progress because of the several efforts made by the government in the last one year.
